The Story "Temperatures hovered in the 30s about an hour after Tuesday's 10 a.m. kickoff of the 66th annual SBC Cotton Bowl, but Glenn Potter couldn't wait any longer. He gladly plopped down $6 for a bottle of beer that really didn't need the ice surround it t keep it cold." - Dallas Morning News, p 13A, January 2, 2002

The Story Despite trouncing the Democrats in the last general election held in Wise County, the Republicans fail to find candidates to run against many incumbent Democratic office holders.

The Story The Messenger names the Decatur ISD cross country team's performance as the #1 sports story of the year.

The Story Eddie Fernandez becomes the first baby born in Wise County in 2002.

The Story The Decatur Public Library hosted a "Harry Potter Party" with kids "participating in games, fun activities, trivia, and ate snacks all related to the Harry Potter books"

The Spin Now we have government sanctioning the satanic practices of Harry Potter - even during the holiday season!  Protests on the library lawn are expected this week.

The Story Cundiff Baptist Church (west of Chico) presents a Christmas play entitled "Something Happened". "Keith Umpress was Satan in Scene Four with [two] demons."
