This Week's Overall Newsiness: Pretty, Pretty Big

The Story Maria Limon was gunned down outside of the Hot Skillet Restaurant in Alvord. The suspected shooter fled on foot and remains at large.
News worthiness (1 to 5)
*****
The Spin Fled on foot? And still not found? That's insane.

The Story I resolve for this New Year to never point out typographical errors in the Messenger.
News worthiness **
The Spin Resolution broken

The Story Rhome begins its traffic camera program - the dumbest idea in the city's history - by issuing 90 warning tickets in one day.
News worthiness ****
The Spin 90! If that is any indication of the number of tickets this program will issue, get ready for the Wrath of The Media to roll into Rhome within the month. (And a little math: 90 a day at 30 days a month = 2700 tickets. Average fine of $150 will reap $405,000 a month and $4.8 million a year.) What a disaster.

The Story Someone with a stolen Chevy Tahoe runs into a bank in Boyd in an effort to dislodge the bank's ATM.
News worthiness **
The Spin The bank is pursing all available remedies to collect the $1.50 service fee.

The Story
The Messenger, while oddly foregoing its annual Top Ten Stories list,  prints some "fun facts" from 2006 including: 425 marriage records filed in the county and 391 divorces filed.
News worthiness *
The Spin That's almost enough to make me want to bring back the Illegitimate Birth Count last printed at the bottom of the page here. (That was 1/3 of all births, by the way.)
