A tongue in cheek review of the news published this week regarding Wise County. Normally posted every Sunday around 6:00 p.m.

For the week ending 2/5/00:

The Story Bridgeport City Council, in compliance with a new state law applicable to all cities, hires its first ever city prosecutor (Greg Lowery) for its municipal court.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) **
The Spin Isn't it odd that for all these years a person could be convicted in a municipal/justice of the peace court without a prosecutor being present on behalf of the State of Texas?

The Story Wise County not included in State's revised ozone smog plan that is to be submitted to EPA.
News worthiness *
The Spin We weren't included in the plan in the past, and there is no indication we will be included in the plan in the future.

The Story Northwest school superintendent conducts first board meeting which is uneventful.
News worthiness *
The Spin The Spin is bored senseless about news involving Northwest.

The Story Bridgeport Athletic Director Danny Henson, after being angered by claims that a Bridgeport coach was unprofessional during a Decatur-Bridgeport basketball game,  writes a letter to the editor appearing in the Bridgeport paper defending his coach.
News worthiness ****
The Spin You've got to like a man who can write a letter that is slightly shorter than War and Peace and throw out phrases like: "a very cowardly and slanderous attack".

The Story High speed chase in Bridgeport leads to arrest of Kevin King, 35.
News worthiness ****
The Spin First entry of the year for Fox's new "Scariest Wise County Police Chases".

The Story "Alternate education" Cates High School in Decatur has a graduating class.
News worthiness ****
The Spin Although The Spin is not exactly sure how a person ends up in Cates High School, we give it a big "thumbs up". Everyone gripes about the public schools, but this program deserves a figurative slap on the back.

The Story Wise County Messenger Sports Editor Mitch Word (who The Spin likes) writes about problems with a new digital camera he has been experimenting with  while covering recent sporting events.
News worthiness N/A
The Spin If you've been wondering where all the sports photos have been, here's your answer.
