This Week's Overall News Theme: High Crimes and Pastoral Misdemeanors

The Story Alvord suffers a true crime spree as a car wash and cars are burglarized, and a school is vandalized.
)News worthiness (1 to 5)

The Spin If there were any businesses in downtown they would shut down and move.

The Story Some lady is sentenced to 10 years in federal court for defrauding some high-tone resort on an Florida island of about $6 million.
News worthiness **
The Spin I don't think Wise County really cares about this.  We need something that we can relate to.

The Story In a Letter to the Editor, a lady accuses a man of poisoning cats near the Shamrock station south of Decatur on 287. "I found rat poison in the water shortly after seeing a man driving a truck leave the area."
News worthiness *
The Spin Now we've got crime we care about! Kitty death! Let's call in the Texas Rangers. But how'd this lady have access to a CSI crime lab?

The Story It's a slow news week so I offer this: I think a lady that appeared on the front page pic in the Messenger (in association with the Youth Fair beauty pageant) looks like that gal who had a bit role in Knocked Up.
News worthiness *
The Spin My photographic evidence here.

The Story As first reported in an exclusive story in the Pulitzer Prize winning Blog two weeks ago, the Messenger now reports on the community church at Runaway Bay hiring a pastor with some baggage.
News worthiness ***
The Spin What's up with a church that practices foregiveness? Jesus would not approve of that. Oh, wait.  But, that aside, this gem in the story is what really got my attention: "The Runaway Bay Community Church has a unique past. It was started about 30 years ago by golfers who lived or vacationed at the little city on the water. They wanted to attend a Sunday service but they didn't want it to cut into their golf time."  It may be the most honest church on earth.
