For the week ending 5/14/05:

The Story Northwest ISD hires Dr. Karen Rue as superintendant with a salary of $180,000, an automobile allowance of $600 per month, $15,000 in moving expenses, medical and dental coverage, disability insurance, life insurance, a lap top computer and a pesonal digital assistant.

The Spin Not throwing in the PDA would have probably killed the deal.

The Story Local elections are held with one person winning a Decatur Council position with 97 votes over two other opponents.

The Story Local leaders meet with Rep. Phil King regarding the proposed TXU line that will disrupt the county.

The Story The Decatur Civic Centere will have its own private club permit to control alcohol sales for the many annual events including "the Wise Regional Health System New Year's Eve Gala, the Domestic Task Force Casino Night, and the Ducks Unlimited fund-raiser".

The Story Walmart prepares for a major renovation including the providing of an office for the Decatur Police Department so that shoplifters can be processed immediately.

The Story Messenger reporter Keri Pritchard writes a pretty funny column about finding a quarter  "laying perfectly centered on the [pizza] between the crust and the topping" at "a local pizzeria".
