For the week ending 5/22/04:

The Story The first alumni football game takes place in Decatur.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) **
The Spin To be expected,  there were lots of sacks, fumbles, and interceptions. Amazingly, there was no action on the part of the paramedics (no injuries) or the police (no on-field assaults).  And the over 40 crowd has a new hero in Kevin Haney.

The Story Governor Rick Perry appears at a $500 a plate fundraiser in Wise County but asks the Messenger "to not run a story prior to the event".
News worthiness **
The Spin Meaning: "I understand the common man, but the common man may not understand $500 a plate. Let's keep this quiet, ok?"

The Story The Bridgeport City Council balks at paying for an officer to be based at the high school unless the school kicks in some money.
News worthiness **
The Spin School officials fear there will be a rash of kids wearing jeans halfway down their butts if the police presence disappears.

The Story H.D. Boswell fails in his attempt to win election to the school board.

The Spin And weeks of Spin material go up in smoke. But only 263 people voted?  There are more than 263 people at Walmart right now.

The Story Four Boyd football players sign national letters of intent to play at Sterling College in Kansas.
