For the week ending 5/28/05:

The Story The papers jump all over the story of Justice of the Peace C.D. Archer accusing Bridgeport Police of violating a 13 year old boys civil rights.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) ***
The Spin We're not saying he's right or wrong. However, this country would be a better place if the police were called on the carpet more often for wrongdoing by those that work with them.

The Story That same story gave rise to a peaceful protest in Bridgeport. Reports had it that Telemundo was there to cover it.
News worthiness ***
The Spin We never saw it, but, Telemundo being Telemundo, we bet there was an extremely hot anchor woman introducing the news story.

The Story Decatur Mayor Joe Lambert voices his complaints about garage sale signs stapled to utility polls. The Messenger even ran a photo of him ripping one of the signs down.
News worthiness ***
The Spin The bigger story is that it appears that Mayor is so popular that the Paparazzi watches his every move.

The Story Bridgeport Valedictorian, Alan Thetford, who was injured in a car accident a couple of weeks back, still addresses his classmates at graduation but has to wear a halo head brace to so.
News worthiness **
The Spin "Don't sleep and drive!" he told his classmates (really).

The Story Volunteers spend six days completing the Crystelle Waggoner Community Playground in Decatur. Over 3,000 people joined in on the project and the Decatur Junior Women's Club raised over $90,000 for the effort.
News worthiness **
The Spin Hey, it was for kids. Hey, it's Memorial Day. How could we possibly say anything negative (especially since we feel so guilty for not contributing).
