This Week's Overall Newsiness: Wake Me Up When September Ends

The Story Supporters of the alcohol petition in Bridgeport had enough names after all. A "misunderstanding of the law" caused the initial confusion.
News worthiness ***
The Spin Or is this yet another alcohol related accident?

The Story Keely Pack writes a Letter to the Editor asking those that are "offended" by "In God We Trust" or the U.S. Flag to leave the United States.
News worthiness *
The Spin Those hard liners give you such a warm and fuzzy feeling. (And this invitation to leave is getting very popular.)

The Story Michael Sparkman Sr. writes a Letter to the Editor asking for people to write him. (Full letter here.)
News worthiness *
The Spin I refuse to be cynical on this one - so I'll shut up.

The Story Randy Shelton writes a Letter to the Editor asking for support for President Bush for his war on "terrorists" in Iraq.  "[E]very day Iraqis are taking more control of the situation of the ground," he wrote.
News worthiness *
The Spin But I will be cynical on this one.  As the Pentagon said yesterday, "Attacks and civilian deaths in Iraq have risen sharply in recent months, with casualties increasing by 1,000 a month."  (War Talk makes me lose my sense of humor.)

The Story A Runaway Bay man, Phillip Mark Decker, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for counterfeiting. He was also assessed a $15,000 fine.
News worthiness ***
The Spin Although he shocked court officials by immediately trying to pay the fine with a stack of $200 bills.
