The Story Three confirmed cases of whooping cough have been confirmed in the county. "A highly contagious illness found only in humans, the bacteria is spread from person to person through tiny drops of fluid from an infected person's nose or mouth. Or as Dr. [Leslie] Hollis bluntly puts it - snot."

The Spin And just as I was finishing breakfast.

The Story Dr. Elizabeth Rohr is finally sentenced to 1 year in the county jail.

The Spin And the above-the-fold photo causes the county nightmares.

The Story Local authorities and the DEA, using helicopters, uncover alleged evidence that there are people in the county that actually possess marijuana. Sixteen people from various locations in the county are arrested with more arrests to follow.

The Spin Any chance that 50 years from now people reading archives of the Messenger will laugh at the amount of time and money spent trying to stop marijuana?

The Spin What's more ironic: (1) the Republicans trying to act like the common man or (2) the Democrats associating with the dead?
