A (sometimes) tongue in cheek review of the news published this week regarding Wise County.

The Story Rex Keese writes a letter to the editor defending the Decatur ISD Board's decision to purchase a vehicle from an out of county dealer instead of from one of the local car dealerships.

The Spin Preach on. Everyone screamed about high taxes when the school board did away with homestead exemption. Now when they try to save some of our tax dollars  they get skewered again. Go figure.

The Story On the same issue, Ruben Cantu, Decatur ISD school board member, writes of a phone call he received from "the second most powerful and influential car dealer in Wise County" that "takes the cake".   "In our society, we have grown so used to the power of money that a businessman can openly make threats with no repercussions.

The Spin Wow. That's a whole new twist on "What's it going to take to get this school district into  in this car?"

The Story Waitress Christi Moyers criticizes the Wise County Messenger for running a feature article last week about waitress Vicky Barnes. "I feel it was untimely considering the 'Best Around Wise' Contest  [is just around the corner]".

The Spin It's not like the contest is covered by the Texas Election Code.

The Story The Messenger publishes a very anti-George W. Bush political cartoon on Wednesday.

The Story Randy Sims writes a letter to the editor chastising residents of New Fairview for not attending, in full, the city council meeting last Monday. "The majority [get what they deserve] as it would appear that Monday Night Football is more important to them than the future of their community".

The Story Wise County proclaims September 24 through the 30th as "Hire the Older Worker Week".
