The Story Pat Younger continues her attack on tax collection firm of Linebarger, Goggan.  "I would . . . like you to take into consideration the indictments brought against this firm for bribery of public officials, and because of a similar incident between [lawyer Steve] Meeks and myself . . . . "

The Story Richard Jean Cook, 27, was arrested for the burglary of the First United Methodist Church and the Central Fellowship Church of Christ in Decatur.

The Story Van Cox of Chico writes a Letter to the Editor chastising the Messenger for printing a series of letters regarding an alleged incident in the the Decatur Jack In the Box where the Chico Varsity Cheerleaders were less than lady like.  "[The original letter writer] Ms. 'Busy-body' Fletcher . . . used this opportunity to teach her own daughter how to be judgmental and vindictive."

The Story Lawyer Jim Matthews pens a Letter to the Editor criticizing the upcoming measures to secure the Wise County courthouse. "Are they going to conduct strip searches and cavity searches? Let's put bars on the windows. Or how about placing an Army tank on the square? Oh, I have a better idea. Let's dig a moat around the courthouse and pour boiling oil on anyone who gets too close."
