The Story Police investigate the shotgun deaths Janet Powers and Robert Powers that occurred days apart in Bridgeport.  Police suspect suicide.

The Story Christmas break arrives with only Boyd and Bridgeport ISD refusing to shut down due to the flu bug.

The Story Lone Star Bariatrics runs a full page ad in the Messenger in Wednesday's edition promoting their weight loss surgery. (Page 9A). In the Sunday edition, the surgeon gets a half page news article about the procedure. (Page 14A).

The Story Chico resident Jason Karp, 26, is sentenced to a life sentence in Parker County after robbing a Chicken Express last year.
