For the week ending 12/25/04:

The Story "The Texas Department of Transportation/Aviation Division has put a price of $9,200 an acre on the 26.4 acre tract the city [of Decatur] wants to buy from the Economic Development Corporation [EDC] to expand the Decatur Municipal Airport . . . . [T]he EDC should realize a profit of about $90,000 . . . ."
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) **
The Spin This is so confusing. One government entity (Decatur) is buying property from a quasi-government agency that is funded through sales taxes (the EDC) and the EDC is making money off of the deal at taxpayer's expense? And the price of the property owned by the EDC is set by another agency (Texas Department of Transportation/Aviation Division)? The Spin should have paid more attention in high school Civics.

The Story The City of Decatur also discusses expanding the airport's runway by 300 feet to accommodate corporate jets.
