For the week ending 1/17/04:
The Story The county must come up with an extra $1.7 million for the jail expansion - a project that now has a total cost of $10.1 million - and the thought of it causes commissioners to fret.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) ***
The Spin Humans spend a lot of money to put other humans in cages.

The Story The City of Rhome comes in first place in the revenue raising business with its municipal court raking in $268,000 in fines and fees. That comes to $487 per resident. (Compare it to  Decatur which brings in an average of $61 per resident and Bridgeport that brings in $91 per resident).

The Story Decatur Football coach Kyle Story turns down the Midlothian head coaching job after making "several trips" to the area and touring the facilities. The offer was made by Midlothian Superintendent J.D. Kennedy - a name that sounds very familiar.
