For the week ending 1/29/05:

The Story The Spin may have had its most  unfunny weekend ever last Sunday.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) *
The Spin Not coincidentally, The Spin was so sick last weekend that he wouldn't have cracked a smile if he had been in a room full of monkeys wearing tutus and smoking cigarettes.

The Story The County finally decides to pay the remaining bill of architect Fred Cauble for his work on the money pit which is the EMS building. To get the check, Cauble agreed to "give up his copyright" on the architectural drawings of the building.
News worthiness **
The Spin Uh, there's probably not much of a chance the building will be duplicated.

The Story District Judge John Fostel makes the move to the Republican Party - almost completing the GOP domination of Wise County.
News worthiness ***
The Spin For grins, could we at least have a Far Religious Right Wing of the Republican Party and the Far Ultra Conservative Wing of the Republican Party? We need at least some political fights for fun. We fear political boredom.

The Story A survey reveals that every school district in Wise County falls below the state average in the area of teacher salaries.
News worthiness **
The Spin Now that was the picker upper that every teacher needed for the new year.

The Story Wise County could receive up to $441,000 in homeland security funds.
News worthiness *
The Spin Is there any larger waste of your taxpayer money than the amount of homeland security grants that are available throughout the country? (By the way, this year, the federal government will spend $412 billion more than it will take in).

The Story Decatur High School students learn about the ham radio and its wonderful potential.
News worthiness *
The Spin One student immediately left class, fired up his cell phone that allows text messaging and picture emailing and said "The ham radio is so cool, you can like communicate with the other fifty people in America that have a ham radio!"
