For the week ending 7/31/04:

The Story All around good guy and prolific Letter to the Editor writer Charles Wilhite passes away.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) ***
The Spin I always thought Mr. Wilhite probably wouldn't like The Spin, and that has always bothered me.

The Story County Commissioners begin to discuss what to name the new jail once it is completed. Some suggested Phil Ryan Law Enforcement Center as an example.

The Spin How about selling the naming rights? "Baird's Bread and Ozarka Water Jail" comes to mind.

The Story Dallas Carl Tate, who escaped from the Montague County Jail, was captured in Wise County near the Three Bears of Texas antique store.

The Spin "Hey, I had a hankering for some collectibles! Is that a crime?"

The Story A former Wise County resident, Kevin Gomillion, is given a life sentence for attempting to hire a hit man to kill his estranged wife. Secret recordings indicated that he wanted the hit man to go to her front door and "pop her". Prosecutor Jeff Swain said "You don't send a hit man to kill someone with their kids in the home where the kids will wake up and find their mother dead on the floor."

The Story Adams Hidden Cove development near Runaway Bay is unveiled and investor/Dallas Cowboy Flozell Adams is there to help kick it off.
