For the week ending 9/10/05:

The Story Ricky Roghair gets a 99 year sentence for aggravated assault by a Wise County jury.
News worthiness (on a scale of 0 to 5) ****
The Spin Lesson learned: Don't hit your wife with a fireplace poker, in front of your kids, after you tie her up, when you've been to the pen before for aggravated assault.

The Story The Messenger points out that Walmart donated over $30 million in hurricane relief and invoked their top level delivery and distribution system to get the aid where it needed to go.

The Spin The federal government would have said the branch managers would have to call their district managers who would wait for word from corporate management who would say they had to hear directly from the branch managers before anything could be done. All while thousands of trucks stayed in the garage.

The Story Understanding that Wise County might be the most conservative county in the nation,  how come you never hear any fallout from Ben Sargent political cartoons that the Messenger runs.
