The Story Wise County juniors and seniors post below average numbers on the ACT and SAT when compared to state and national results.
News worthiness  (on a scale of 0 to 5) **
The Spin Even more troubling is the thought of just how smart is the average junior or senior?

The Story Ironically, a report issued this week as required by by the federal "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001" indicated that Wise County, "as a whole", is leaving "no child behind".

The Story County Commissioners vote to increase the fee for filing a divorce in Wise County by $15 with all of the proceeds going to the privately run Wise County Domestic Violence Task Force.

The Spin Isn't there something wrong with a private charity benefiting from the equivalent of a mandatory tax? As an alternative, The Spin proposes a $5 fee with all proceeds going to The Spin.  

The Story H.D. Boswell begins his anti-DISD bond package campaign with a 1/2 page paid ad in the Messenger.

The Spin The Decatur School Bond Election Committee only has enough cash to buy a 1/6 page ad. See Thursday's Messenger on page 11A.  This is a bad omen for the pro-bond folks.

The Story A three year old child wanders off from the College Street Child Care and Learning Center in Decatur.
