The Story Boyd police officers began learning Spanish in an effort to improve their interaction with the public. However, course instructor Blanca Constable-Sherwin said that she "taught the officers proper grammar but did not go into verb conjugation."

The Story In a story about issuing housing permits in New Fairview, the following sentence appeared in the Wise County Messenger: "The council members say they do not want to refuse to issue permits for used manufactured homes but will not do so unless they receive a letter from Johnson Country Oaks stating that they are violating the deed restrictions." Sunday edition, page 12A.

The Story The Boyd City Council begins planning for an updated sewer system. Mayor Allen Dickey said that the current sewer plant stays two-thirds full and if "one or two more houses are added, it is going to a problem."
